Spring has arrived! The season is a welcome change from the dreariness of winter. It’s the time of year where the flowers start to bloom, the grass gets greener, and the days get longer. People spend more time outdoors and plan projects for the home. At DVC, we love spring because of the warmer temperatures and it’s the start of construction season. To celebrate spring, we thought we would share some interesting facts about this colorful season.
1. The first day of spring is called the vernal equinox. In Latin, vernal means spring and equinox means equal night.
2. At the North Pole, spring starts six months of uninterrupted daylight. Yet, the South Pole is the complete opposite with six months of uninterrupted darkness.
3. Spring promotes creativity! Scientists believe the longer days cause people to be more active, happy, and creative.
4. Baby birds learn to sing in the spring. They learn to sing from hearing other birds chirping while looking for their mates, which happens in the spring.
5. Daylight savings starts mid-March, which gives us an extra hour to enjoy the outdoors.
6. There are a lot of holidays in the spring, including Easter, Passover, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Cinco De Mayo.
7. Spring produces worms! The full moon in March is called the Full Worm Moon, where the ground thaws and extra rain encourages worms to come above ground.
8. Animals come out of hibernation, such as bears and bees.
9. Spring is a time for eggs – and not just the Easter kind! Frogs lay eggs near water in early March and leatherback sea turtles return to the beaches where they were born to lay their eggs.
10. The temperature goes up 5 degrees per month starting in March.
Spring is also the season where you’ll find more trucks on the road. Construction and landscaping season start and that means materials and equipment need to be transported to and from jobsites. DVC is ready to help you with your transportation for your projects. Contact us today learn what we can transport for you
